Dear Everyone,
Doesn't anyone else care about the Tsunami? The scale of devastation is huge. Indeed, how can our Lord have allowed this? Maybe he is angry at us for all of our sins? But the children? Those poor children. You can't tell me that they sinned enough to be killed in an instant. Swept out of their mother's arms and drowned. It's like we're nothing but little insects scurrying around and this huge monster comes along and steps on us. Most of the time disasters seem to happen in countries that are already so poor. They have nothing to begin with and then God takes more away.
I know if this disaster had occured in Europe, perhaps in England, France, or Spain, the president would have come out with a message of sympathy immediately. But what does he know of people in Banda Aceh? I had to look up on a map where the Indian Ocean was. I couldn't picture the area in my mind. Indonesia, Sri Lanka?
My sister Carol died an awful death from cancer. I have more empathy now for the survivors of tragedy. I go to my church every Sunday, hoping that someday my faith in God will return. But will it?
